Bilal Arain, PhD - Robotics Researcher

I am a Senior Robotics Engineer (Perception) at the Dubai Future Labs at Dubai Future Foundation. My research focuses on mission-oriented perception algorithms for optimized navigation of autonomous vehicles to carry out dependable missions in complex and dynamic environments. I have demonstrated experience in developing fully autonomous systems that can achieve real-world applications in natural and complex environments by relying only on their intelligent capabilities. Developing such a system requires a ‘decision-making’ capability in situations where there are no pre-programmed instructions available. With applied research experience in developing guidance, navigation and control systems (GNC) for autonomous systems, my work is focused on innovating and creating practical solutions to deal with problems in the unstructured and dynamic environment. I have also worked as a team lead (GNC), software engineer and control systems engineer in the precision agriculture, mining and defence industry in Australia.
